Pictured above: Isis International's Tim Marshall is caught by the Vanuatu Tusker's defence. Tim was in Vanuatu with the Bundaberg Rum Rebels on their tour in December 2006. Tim and his older brother Brent are founding members of the Isis Internationals Rugby Club, and have been amongst the first people selected for Bundaberg representative teams. WELCOME TO INTERNATIONALS RUGBY Welcome to the home page of the Isis Internationals Rugby Union Club. The Internationals is a founding club of the Bundaberg and District Rugby Union (est. 2002). Our club was built on a base of field workers, backpackers and Rugby League toughened locals. We have earnt a fearsome reputation for being the most physical team in our competition. Our original coach, Mick Quinn, the kick boxing Kiwi, taught the Isis boys many ways to physically intimidate our opposition, without breaking the Laws of the Game of Rugby. Mick also taught the Isis boys many of the finer traditions of Rugby, like post match speeches and boat races. That is why the Internationals are seen as the team that is toughest to play, but the best bunch of blokes to have a drink with after the game. The Isis Internationals are based in Childers, a prosperous rural community approximately 3 and 1/2 hours north of Brisbane. Around Childers you will find fields of sugar cane, orchards of avocado and macadamia trees, tomato bushes galore and many other smallcrops. The popular coastal community of Woodgate, with it's sparkling sandy beaches and calm waters is only a short drive away. There are also plenty of creeks and rivers for fishing when you're taking a break from Rugby. Seasonal work abounds around Childers, and the Isis Internationals have seen many of the seasonal workers take to the Rugby field. Englishmen, Scotsmen and Welshmen and the odd Scandinavian have worn the International's colours, as well as New Zealanders and other South Pacific Islanders. A couple of Ethiopian footballers (soccer players) were even coaxed into a game of Rugby at an International's home game at the Childers Showgrounds. If you're backpacking around Australia, or you're keen for Bush Change, and you love your Rugby, make sure you stop off for a season in Childers, and play for the Isis Internationals.
